Boston

The malaise of New York's winter drove us out of the city and into the arms of a neighboring city, Bosssssston! Where it was possibly colder and generally more expensive due to the parking costs for our rental car. Those details aside, it was a wonderful 3 day escape, and Boston captured a piece of my heart. The streets wreaked of history and quaintness. I was so grateful we were able to make the trip up.
Our first day, we went through Cambridge to see Harvard. It was awesome!
Our one family shot in the elevator of our 5-star all inclusive hotel
The main reason we came was to swim! Brighton was ready!
Our goal was to do the entire freedom trail. We decided to break it up a bit due to cold temperatures so we started at the end with Bunker Hill.

View from the hill.

Our kiddos walked up all 294 steps to the top of the memorial. I was proud of them.
And we found someone's snowman that we claimed as our own.

Then we went down to see Old Iron sides. The tour was awesome, and it's always humbling for me to step foot on history.

The freedom trail.
The next day we drove down to Plymouth to see Plymouth Rock. I wished we could visit in the summer because it is such a cute town with ice cream shops that line the shore, but as far as pictures go, the day couldn't have been more perfect.

The Mayflower

We went out for a fancy dinner that night where I tried my first lobster roll, and dined with these cuties.
Swimming time again!
Brighton loves to swim but is pretty nervous about it nonetheless, so once he made friends with his ducky there was no separating them.

The cemeteries were pretty incredible with amazing tombs like this lining the walls. If I was more of a tourist I could probably tell you which cemetery this was but they all kind of blurred together after a hot chocolate spill and near hypothermia
Paul Revere's grave, complete with penny tributes (fun fact, Paul Revere provided the copper to mint the first pennies)

Loved this street.

Tori was pooped
Almost to the end.
Tribute to fallen soldiers in Afghanistan.
We grabbed a snack at a bakery before catching the subway back to the hotel.
Public transit was so different in Boston. Clean, safe looking, elevators, no turn stiles.
And tons of space once on. Dreamy!
Brighton was so worn out he fell asleep on Tori's lap.
Thank you Boston! You were every bit as patriotic as I had hoped for. Such a beautiful city even in the frigid dead of winter.
