Thriller Night

I'm kind of over Halloween, I've decided. This year it seemed like so much work, but upon reflection, I remembered last year was a lot of work too. Unlike other holidays, there's very little in it for the adults, except sneaking Twix bars out of Tori's stash. Negativity aside, Manhattan put forth a great showing. Since Tori has so many dress-ups, she got to be a different character for each party we attended, which I will have to eat my words now, because seeing Tori so excited about her make-up and sparkly hair was worth the effort.

Our ward did their version of trunk-or-treating by decorating different doors in the church building for the kids to knock on. It was great practice for Tori. They also featured all the fun traditional games like bobbing for apples, mummy wrap races, bean bag toss, etc. Tori was especially over-tired that evening, thus over-sensitive. The kids were playing tag and she kept running back to me in tears asking why the kids were running from her? She, also, desperately wanted to play the bean bag toss but didn't want everyone watching (yeah we've reached that "I get embarrassed about everything and anything" phase), which, of course, was impossible because there was a huge line all night. Brighton on the other hand was ALL over the place eating anything on the floor, which in great part consisted of candy wrappers and crumbs. I was pretty busy and as badly as Brandon wanted to be there, the program scheduled late classes that night.
"Doctor in Training," hipster mama, and Tinker bell. I know, I know, not my best showing, but you try walking 19 blocks in a costume in the UES. Simple seemed more responsible.
Tor and her friends Hailey, Mazie, and Avery.
Make up and sparkles! Eeee!
Dr. McDreamy
Then came Halloween. Tori was too excited to be Ariel so we skipped our Aurora costume for the popcorn party we attended and spent the whole glorious day as a mermaid.
You can't see her sparkles or make up but her  hair looked like diamonds, and we did a very flamboyant mix of green, pink, and blue eyeshadows that I personally thought looked stunning.
78th Street, Upper East Side...there were a few other kids out trick-or-treating with us haha.
A lot of Brandon's classmates live in the building, so we thought it would be fun to go see them just to get Tori warmed up. They were all so sweet to go pick up candy specially for Tori and Brighton, and it worked like a charm! Brandon and I were taking too long chatting, so Tori asked, "Can we go somewhere else now and get more candy?"
Which wore off quickly when we joined the masses and Tori remembered how much more she dislikes crowds than she loves candy.
I really loved hitting the streets. It was crowded but it was fun to see the decorations and in between the melt downs Tori loved seeing the other costumes. It was a lot of walking, lots of tears, lots of candy. A happy ending after all.

Such a cute doctor, mermaid, tink and hipster! Loved them all! Tay was a witch but by the end of the night she decided she was a dancer! So silly! Looks like lots of NY fun!
