I'm not usually a fan of food posts but....

We are talking about the Great Hot Dog Cook Off!! Possibly one of the most unexpected and random activities Brandon and I have participated in, but holy cow, hopefully a new tradition. For the sake of sounding cultured when I'm clearly not, I'll just lay it out there...I've never heard of a hot dog cook off and I've never had to buy tickets to a cook off nor would I normally, but this was so great! It was held in Brooklyn which was my first time out there, all in all, a day of newness.
The kids didn't make the cut in any of our pics because, Oh Yeah, they were being horrible the whole time haha, but we didn't let that hold us back.
They had free soda, and much to my delight it wasn't the standard in a can type.  It was mixed like an Italian soda. They had cream soda and hibiscus flavors. Cream soda...lovely, hibiscus...carbonated tea, but I still enjoyed it.
This is the hot dog that got our vote. It was a deep fried hot dog with little mozzarella balls and some sort of spicy chili. It was to die for, but even though this one got my vote there were so many yummy and unique combinations, strawberry and goat cheese hot dogs, mash potato with sautéed onions hot dogs, oh my goodness, it was heaven.
Delicious Mexican Chili Chocolate ice cream....SO AWESOME!
We got to sample two of the "Pro-dogs." Hopefully, that's self-explanatory.  Our first pick was the El Meat Hook, featuring roasted jalapeños and Mexican coleslaw.
The Hoyt Dog, pretty plain Jane with fresh relish and chopped onion on a poppy bun. All in all, the amateur dogs were better we thought.
Had to get a pic of this guy, I'm always trying to set my sis-in-law up! Brits...I think I got it right this time, tall, nerdy hipster with a beard and he cooks...hot dogs. Done and done!
Brooklyn graffiti, or at this point we might have been in Queens, I'm perpetually lost. At any rate this is the backside of a building we passed on the way home. The other side was incredible. This is still pretty cool though!
