Where Fall Begins

I came home with a lot more opinions this second round of fashion week. Overall, I don't know that it was as fun as the first time...all the initial excitement and star struck feelings had dissipated, but it made for more attentiveness to the shows and clothes. Speaking of star struck though, I did see Jane Krakowski, Ashley Greene, Maggie Grace, Katherine Heigl, Selita Ebanks, and Miss J

I discovered this season that Mercedes Benz posts all the shows on their website. So, I hope you check out a few, keeping in mind the soundtracks they picked for the videos were not the originals. I would LOVE to discuss.

I worked 4 shows: Kaufmanfranco, Reem Acra, Badgley Mischka, and Zang Toi. Shows I WISH I had worked in addition to the ones I had: Anna Sui, Milly, and Tracy Reese....and if we are being honest Carolina Herrera. Maybe next time : )
People filing out after a show and I don't know if you all know, but these venues are all tents  behind this lobby entrance. You would never guess looking at it though. Fashion Week is a fine tuned machine.

My swag: In some ways, I was glad to see there wasn't a ton of leftover product this time.  This event is seriously the MOST wasteful production imaginable. However, I worked twice as hard in bigger venues with less desirable views of the shows, so I wouldn't say disappointed...mostly just glad that I stuffed some Zang Toi mints in my boot as a memoir. Oh come on, they would have been thrown away anyway.
At the time, I wasn't overly excited about the shows I watched, but as I look back on the videos again, there was definitely something memorable from each show. Badgley Mischka...sigh, the detailing, the Egyptian influence...divine. My favorite piece of the season came from their show.

Zang Toi had a more choreographed runway, which...I love theatrics. The music and choreography made you feel like you were watching an epic Lord of the Rings scene unfold. He got a standing ovation and had gift bags up to the sixth row, not just the first. I thought that was neat. A couple great pieces, but the rest were very The King and I

According to MBFW on Facebook the big trends for the fall are leather (heel kick), embellishments (double heel kick), and jewel tones (just one heel kick).

You are too fancy, I wouldn't get much from fashion week! I don't know who any of those people are! And that is why you are the fashion forward one and I'm the mom Jean one! Haha! Looks like lots of fun in the big apple!
