No Doubt about it!

While Good Morning America has a great line up of musicians for their free concert series,  I would only wake my kids up at 5 am for someone Brandon and I really love....No Doubt. As you can imagine though, such an early morning and in New York, no less, comes with a few kinks.

I had debated whether we should go at all. Word of warning, doing anything in New York with children is inconvenient and usually involves a number of rude people acting like you and your offspring just pooped in their favorite bowl of cereal. So I spent the evening planning out how to get kids there, if strollers would be allowed in the venue (they are not), and if not, how to hold the kids for 3 hours possibly in rain (stupid weather man is usually always wrong here). We ended up leaving the strollers, taking a taxi, and in the end we only stood in line for maybe 10 minutes. It was shaping up to be a pretty good morning!

Once inside though, the ground was wet, guess it rained in there, which of course upset Tori, who refused to stand by herself, and Brighton wasn't liking the wrap because he was overtired. Moreover, we were standing behind a pole and with kids, it's hard to really maneuver closer to the stage so I didn't have the greatest view. I invest a ton into the things I'm excited about...again, I wouldn't wake up that early for just anyone or anything, so admittedly there were a couple moments of nearly tears and wishing we had found a babysitter. Bad attitude aside, I love exposing my kids to stuff I love, and in the end they did very well for such an early, chaotic morning. And Tori said last night that she was going to dream about the girl in red, so, whether this is weird or not, I was a proud momma bear.

My little troopers waiting in line.
The lovely Gwen! She lived up to the hype. Her outfit, her vocals, the way she moves, talks,  everything oozes coolness. Her word of the day was "delicious," the crowd was so "delicious," which naturally made me hungry.
Tom and Adrian
We got to see all four songs performed for sound check before they went live.  We also have video of the band members playing Star Wars.
During a break between performances they had a "comedian" come out to get the crowd hyped by handing out free stuff. When attention was drawn to the young kids in the crowd, Brandon held up Brighton which brought on some major cheering and chanting from the crowd. The comedian and Brandon talked over the crowd for a bit before another newborn baby was held up by one of the GMA news anchors, so the comedian thought it would be a good idea to have a cutest baby contest. I thought it was kind of mean, not to mention unfair - a newborn can't compete with an older baby that has a major coif of hair and all his cute little chubby features - haha, but Brighton had quite the following and Brandon scored a tshirt for memories.
The Good Morning America anchors. Other Dad in the competition is second to the left.
I insisted on getting a pic not all Mommy-ed up. Prior to this I had my Moby wrap clumped around my waist with a huge umbrella tucked into it and a baby on arm. Pretty much looked like just the type of cool person that would be at a No Doubt concert.

Overall, this was one of the more friendlier activities we have participated in. Everyone around us was so pleasant, fun, and great with our kids! Brandon and I LOOOOVE our 90's music, so this was such a sentimental and great memory to make with him. Brandon takes the cake for husband of the year too. He did everything possible to make this fun for me and then let me sleep for 3 hours after. Best guy ever!
