How blessings Brighton as they take their flight -
Our little man has arrived! A day earlier than our scheduled inducement and at 7 pounds, 4 ounces. I had to thank him for being 11 ounces smaller than Tori. Yeah it hurts no matter what, but I'm telling you...it made a difference : )
Here is mommy and Brighton right after getting cleaned up. My doc has taken it upon himself to be my fashion consultant through out this pregnancy and he had told me my hair looked pretty funny that day...wasn't till I saw this picture that I understood, but hey who's thinking about that when delivering a baby. Well, besides Dr. Lowder!
Here are my handsome boys! Brandon has been such a proud papa, which of course, I find adorable! Nothing more attractive then your man with a baby haha!
Our Aunt Mandy brought Tori up to meet Brighton and she was thrilled for the first few minutes! Then she was ready to go home with Aunt Mandy haha!
I always love to hear delivery stories so I thought I'd share mine. We had a lot of firsts this time around, proving that every delivery is truly a unique experience. Like previously mentioned, we were scheduled to be induced this morning actually, so Sunday night I still wasn't packed for the hospital and hadn't really worried much about it considering we were getting induced a week early and with Tori I was 3 days late. Needless to say, I did not think we'd be going earlier than this morning. Low and behold, at about 1 a.m. Monday morning I woke up to my water breaking....so weird! I could not figure out why I was soaking wet. I told Brandon what I thought had happened, and he was up and going, packing bags, running around like the awesome hubby he is. Ironically, Tori wet the bed at the same time, so poor Brandon had his hands full!
Our awesome Aunt Tara came to the rescue in the wee morning hours and took Tori home with her. At which point, we were finally off and running. By the time we got to the hospital, my contractions were pretty noticeable...not unbearable but painful, so I was pretty disappointed to find out I was only dilated to a 3. Regardless, I had the epidural, which was SUPER painful this time around. I cried and pinched Brandon's tummy through the whole thing.
My blood pressure was pretty low, so I ended up having to get some meds for that, which caused my heart to race pretty bad. Sleeping wasn't really an option, so I sat in very stunned silence for about 9 hours. We had one scare during this time when Brighton's heart beat dropped really quick for about 2 1/2 minutes. I could feel him moving, but we couldn't find his heart beat. They think he might have layed on the umbilical cord, but thankfully he was fine!
I was feeling a lot of pressure, but was holding back from telling the nurses because I wanted to be sure. When I couldn't stand it anymore, we made the call and sure enough I was dilated to a 10. I had me a good cry over the prospect of pushing. Dr. Lowder was worried about my allergies haha, always the jokester! We started pushing at 9:50 and Brighton was here by 10:09. I really LOVED working with a doctor that had a method to delivering. My midwives were so fantastic, but they were all about letting whatever happens happen, so tearing like crazy was a natural result of simply pushing the baby out as quickly as possible. Dr. Lowder on the other hand had strategy and it was such a different experience. My nurses were also amazing. They cheered me on the whole time, and were extremely supportive.
Brighton has been such mellow little guy...another first for us since Tori...well I'm sure most of you remember our crazy little gal! We've loved having time with him and have been so thankful to all our family that has helped with Tori. This has been such a special experience, and I'm so excited that it could be so positive! We get to check out today and I for one am so excited to get home to my Tor, whom I've hardly seen the last couple days, and just get my little family settled. Can't wait for everyone to meet Brighton soon!
