Day 1:
After half a day of driving we decided to relax at our hotel by catching some rays by the pool followed by what was a supposed to be a quick sight seeing trip down the Strip. However, we got caught in traffic for over two hours, and finally made it back to our hotel around 11:00 pm. We also paid like $6 for a bottled water, which I found rather upsetting! And frankly, the taxi drivers here are way worse than New York taxi drivers.
Day 2:
After sleeping in (Yay), we literally spent most of our day at the Las Vegas outlet malls....Huge! Of course, I enjoyed this a lot, and by the time we made it back home we were too pooped for another traffic jam downtown, so we got to catch a re-run of the VMA's, which by the way, Kanye West is so lame for what he did...but does anyone have a problem with the fact that Kanye is catching more flack for interrupting Tayler Swift's acceptance speech than Chris Brown got for beating up Rihanna....I'm just saying!
Day 3:
We started off the day sleeping in of course, haha, and then hit the Strip for all the classic Las Vegas tourist sights including the fountains at the Balagio, The Sirens of TI, the Volcano at the Mirage, the Miracle Mile Mall at Planet Hollywood, and a couple slot machines. I talked Brandon into losing the $2 he won, which is precisely why I don't gamble. We got to go to a comedy hypnotist show at the V Theatre in the Miracle Mile, which was hilarious, and then we finished the night with Frank Sinatra at the fountains...by far my favorite free tourist attraction!
Day 4:
I had wanted desperately to ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower, and we decided to start our last day off with catching a view from the top. I would have loved to see it at night, but of course in Las Vegas everything costs more than it should. But it was just as neat during the day and the ride up was pretty scary being in a "glass" elevator. For dinner, we went to the Rainforest Cafe in the MGM Grand. Great food and fun ambience! Above you can see a picture of the night sky that decorated the ceiling above us...very romantic! We then hit Downtown Las Vegas, which is different than the Strip...far scarier! Downtown they feature the Freemont Street experience, a canopy covered in over 700 million lights paying tribute to various musicians. Pretty amazing!
Day 5:
Saving the best for last! Before heading out of town, we were able to catch nearly 5 hours of the Crocs AVP Tour. Granted, I'm not a volleyball player, nor do I keep up with it, but I might now, because this was one of my favorite things we did there! I got to see 6 different olympic sand volleyball players! Brandon and I were pretty much the first spectators to arrive so we had first choice to any seat on any court, but we decided to court hop and catch as many players as we could. The atmosphere was really layed back. All the athletes were kind of hanging out in the stands near us or walking around chatting, so it was cool! I was feeling a bit star struck, but Brandon was cool enough to round up Todd Rogers for a pic and brief convo! My favorite player besides Rogers (he was the only one I recognized) was Brittany Hochevar (featured below) who played her first round with Jenny Jordan....Jenny and Brittany, it could have AVP potential Brits, just saying! She was pretty funny though! During pool play each player is awarded $1000 for every game he or she wins! I'm thinking this could be a pretty profitable and fun lifestyle...traveling and winning lots of money...eh Brits!
Brandon with Todd Rogers in front of the athletes outhouse...no we didn't catch him coming out!
It was a fantastic way to end a busy, but fun week....and leaving my baby behind made coming home fun!
