Big Horn Crags

SO Jennie and I were trying to decide what to do yesterday since I didn't have to work, so we looked in some of my hiking trail books and found a hike that we thought would be really fun. It is in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness area, and the hike was located in the well known Big Horn Crags area. It is actually a backpacking trip of about fifty miles, and would normally take about 4-6 days to do it all, but we wanted to see what it was like, just to make sure that we wanted to do a week long trip back there. It is amazing and we are thinking about doing the whole 50 miles later this summer or fall if anyone is interested in going. To help convince you, here are a few pictures of what we were able to see in about an 8 or 9 mile round trip hike we did. Enjoy! Bentley snoozing in the truck! We thought for the actual backpacking trip we'd put him to more work and strap our sleeping bags on him like a mule....he's got to earn his keep!
Entering the Frank Church Wilderness! Here's the first lake we passed called Golden Trout Lake! Makes you wonder if there's a lot of golden trout...we could be rich!!
Bentley has his preference on hiking order. He'll usually follow me really well, but he rarely lets Jennie walk in front him. We were having a bit of power struggle on this hike, because he kept wanting to push me off the trail!
View of the crags from the top of the first climb! The big one on the right is where we hiked to!
Walking up close to the big boulders!
Cathedral Rock! AWESOME!
More cool boulders!
We actually had to do some bouldering along the way, which was really hard for Bentley! We finally tied a rope around him and yanked him over. Na, just kidding, Jen's just messing around and looking cute!
