Baby Shower in Rexburg

I was going to wait until I have both my baby showers done, but I had so much fun yesterday and just wanted to share it while it was fresh on my mind, however, with Brandon wanting to nap in the dark, I can't write it in my journal at the moment. So, I really don't enjoy any kind of event that centers around me (no less my growing belly), but considering the focal point was in fact that growing belly, I just enjoyed all the good company that came. I got to see so many people that I haven't seen for so long, and it was fabulous catching up with everyone. Moreover, I was really humbled by the support and love I feel from all my friends and family. It makes me very anxious to join the ranks of motherhood!! It was hosted by my Mom, and my friends Brie and Becca helped, which was purely AWESOME of all of them!! So I broke down some of the highlight moments from the day.

As promised, I had to put this picture of my friends/former co-workers playing a game where we raced to be the first to drink four ounces of Sunny D (mmmmm) from a bottle (but I added a pic of me too Meredith, just to make it fair). The game was actually really hard, but maybe because I was too busy enjoying the Sunny D. I succeeded at drinking 1/2 an ounce, while Becca slaughtered us all and drank hers in like 30 seconds, haha! I was impressed.

We played I think four different games. Brie organized one called the "The Price is Right" which I did terrible on. Sadly, I've never looked at the prices of things like bottles, recieving blankets, binkies, diaper rash ointment, etc. I've been too busy buying clothes and thinking a child is going to be so expensive, but really some of these items are quite affordable. We also played a couple other guessing games (some of which I couldn't play because I already knew the answers), but my favorite was definitely the bottle game.

Another major highlight for me at any event is eating, and since I spaced it and forgot to take a picture of all the yummy food that Becca made, here's the links to images of what she made. We had a yummy punch, assorted fruit, dessert paninis, tortilla rolls, and my favoritest classic pasta salad. I sufficiently gorged myself, which I usually regret after the fact, however during the process, I was very happy!

To finish out the day, Brie bought a bunch of fun things to decorate personalized onesies for the baby. I loved them all!! She got some fun iron on glitter decorations and lettering and little prints of which I never ironed on long enough, so my onesies turned out sort of vintage looking (which is appropriate). Brit Dean had a cute one that says "Dean" on the booty, and Becca's were all awesome, but I really liked her "I Love Porter" one...our little girl might as well know right off the bat who she's going to marry. I really loved them all though (I'm not picking favorites : ), and most of all I love the idea of my family and friends being an everyday part of our baby's life!

I felt a little spoiled with gifts, but I was really greatful to everyone for all their thoughtful contributions. And for reals, thanks to everyone that knows what's going on when it comes to having a baby, I think we're set to have a one now...at least materially!! It was AWESOME!! I can honestly say it was one of the best days I've ever had and the girl time was much needed!

Brie's impressive diaper cake...soooo cute!

We played the prices right game at my baby shower too. I didn't do so great either. I thought everything that was expensive was cheap and all the cheap stuff was expensive. I bet I could do a lot better now.

Hey Thanks! Actually my cakes usually look like a disaster. Elmo is actually really easy. I looked up the directions online. THe frosting can be messy because he's furry. The nose was starburst melted, the mouth was melted chocolate, and the eyes were oreos with melted frosting poured on and two chocolate pieces for pupils. You just stick them all on and you're done!
