Winter Park and Copper Mountain in Colorado. You've heard that Colorado has the best of the best for snowboarding, and while we remain loyal Idahoans, we must admit.....it is the Rockies. Both resorts had really great board parks, although slightly congested at times. They had a great variety of runs, and thankfully you can choose how long a run will be with convenient chair lift access nearly everywhere you go. However, if you can't make the trip, we suggest Grand Targhee. Bear Peak in Boulder, Colorado. This hike is awesome!! I can actually agree with Brandon in saying this one is all about the journey. After meandering through meadow and forest trail paths (sorry, no unicorns and definitely no Shrek sightings), you'll find yourself up close and personal with the Flat Irons (as pictured below)...massive smooth boulders jetting upwards and ironically resembling, none other than a bunch of flat irons. This trail is challenging but a quick trip straight to the top, and the view is worth it.
Boulder Canyon, Colorado. While we're on a Colorado kick, I've been dying to tell everyone about this canyon. Just down the way from Bear Peak, you can drive along some of the prettiest scenery ever. This isn't the best picture, because we forgot the camera when all the leaves were still on the trees, but just picture this in yellows, oranges, and reds. AMAZING! There's also a waterfall along this road just as you enter the canyon, which happens to be a popular place for rock climbing, so plenty of action to see along the way!
Fall Creek Falls in Swan Valley, Idaho. We're kind of waterfall seekers if you haven't noticed, but this one's cool because it's right off the road. Also, you can climb all over the falls, and it's right next to river. On a hot summer day, it's the perfect place to cool down.
Maiden Form Peak in Wyoming. Welp, this is proof that Brandon does, in fact, participate with this blog. Now, I've never been on this particular venture, but it cannot go without saying that someday....I definitely might. Brandon got to go on a week long back packing trip in the Tetons this past summer and fell in love with this little lady in the background. Reportedly, the most challenging and rewarding climb he's ever made. My advice...stick to Bear Peak. I will say that I'm a big fan of the Tetons, which is why it earned a spot on our top 10 (yeah, there's not 10 because I'm tired of typing).
